lynette voevodin

Lynette Voevodin taught (english as a second language) in a bi lingual school at Kintore 1984 and she taught the Indigenous teachers the concepts to be covered each day after school finished.

Kintore (Walungurru) is a small community located 530 kilometres west of Alice Springs at the foot of the culturally important hills Pulikatjara (meaning two hills). The population varies according to cultural activities and numbers vary from 250 to 500 people, averaging around 350. The community was established in 1981 when the Pintubi people moved back to their traditional country from Papunya.

Lynette also worked as the art teacher at Kalumburu in 2000 for two terms while the original teacher was on maternity leave.

Lynette Voevodin completed an MFA 1994, Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia and is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Humanities at Curtin University of Technology.

Her interest in film began with super 8 and more recently has moved to digital formats. In 2003 her solo exhibition Vignettes – Performance Films was shown at Goddard de Fiddes Gallery, Perth.

2009 exhibitions have been: 24hr Panoramas, GAV Gallery, Taipei, Taiwan; Compostism, Taipei Artist Village, Taipei, Taiwan; Thing, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth. Lynette exhibited in The Roving Eye, Australian Embassy, Washington, USA, 2007; in the 9th Havana Biennale 2006-07 and in Earthquake + LIFE plus TV, MCA, 2004.

In 2008 Lynette was awarded an Australia Council, New Work Grant and an ARTsWA New Work Grant.

Lynette has recently been filming in super 8 and painting Acts in Response. All these works celebrate acts of love.

Recent film work: Acts of Fishing, Goddard de Fiddes, 2009; Radishes, Foot tapping and Hairdo, 2005, all made on super 8, transferred to DVD.

For several years Lynette collaborated with Rodney Glick and their joint work 24Hr panoramas, featuring three dual DVD video projections: Earthquake 1999-2002, Western Desert 2004 and Nullabor 2005-06, were shown at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth, 2006-07.
