PAMELA KOUWENHOVEN - BIOGRAPHY

Pamela Kouwenhoven is a South Australian artist who has consistently, and over many years, used unlikely discarded materials to construct sculptural works, assemblages and installations. Kouwenhoven's current work utilises discarded malthoid, which she scrapes from the bottom of old rainwater tanks, and the discarded tanks themselves.

Winner of numerous awards and prizes, Kouwenhoven is three times winner of the Heysen Prize for Australian Landscape. She is represented in The State gallery of South Australia, most South Australian Regional Gallery collections and Wentworth Shire Council in N.S.W. She has been included in major group exhibitions including The Blake, The National Sculpture Prize and Exhibition, and numerous travelling shows.

In 2007 she was a finalist in The Sunshine Coast Art Prize, the SALA Advertiser Contemporary Art Award [winner], and The Gold Coast Art Prize. In 2008 she has been a finalist in the Alice Prize, is part of an exhibition 'Redeeming the Ruin the Art of Consumption", touring Regional Victorian Galleries, was represented in the 2008 SALA exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia and has had a solo exhibition at The University of the Sunshine Coast Art Gallery.
